Of course, some repairs are easier and quicker to handle than others. Some are a major hassle—particularly those that involve working on pipes that are hidden behind walls or under floors or are otherwise difficult to access. This doesn’t mean you can’t do them yourself, it just means you may need a little more instruction, a few more tools, and a load of patience.
Plumbers on the Handy platform have experience in fixing all the common (and uncommon) plumbing problems that plague homes. Whether you’ve got a water heater leaking, a clogged toilet, or a blocked drain, chances are that your plumber will have seen and dealt with a similar job before. When you use the Handy app or website, you’ll be connected to experienced plumbers who’ll know exactly what to do, no matter how big or small the job might be.
We had installed a new faucet and drain in our downstairs bathroom and realized it didn’t fit quite right into the PVC drain pipe. We were looking for someone to come and redo the drain piping under the sink. Not a huge job, but something I didn’t want to deal with doing myself after a very long week of work. We called Roto-Rooter because we figured with a well known name, they’d be fast, courteous and able to do the job that day while I was at work and it wouldn’t disturb my wife too much who works from home. The plumber was very condescending to my wife and was absolutely trying to pinch every penny we had. He spoke in a very confusing, and urgent way, making it seem like there was a lot more going on than there really was. He turned a $200 job into an almost $900 bill, double charging us, calling it “two separate jobs”. He also tried to sell us a whole house water filter to clear up sedimentation.
We called Roto-Rooter to unclog our master bathroom shower drain which is the third time we've had Roto-Rooter do this service for us over a three year period. They came on time and did a good job. My only grievance is the outrageous price they charged. It took the plumber around 25 minutes using a motorized snake to unclog the drain. They charged $527.92 after deducting a $40 coupon. This is an OUTRAGEOUS fee for a pretty simple job. I am a senior citizen recently retired. It is my fault that I used them again. My recommendation is to shop around because this job should have only cost around $150-$200 for less than 30 minutes work.

“Intelligent Service replaced our two sump pumps, added digital float switches, and installed a digital wall unit to track the water levels and pump options. They also checked our existing battery backup for battery outputs. They improved the piping and fixed the check valves. They cleaned the sump pit and the work area. They did a terrific job. Will definitely use them again and will recommend them as well. Pleasure to work with, very responsive, knowledgeable staff, and did a good job explaining the work order prior to writing up the estimate.”
We called them several weeks back in order to arrange repair of a leaky faucet. Before that we had called several other companies, and none were as willing to help as Pro service plumbing. If you get the chance, be sure to ask for Bill…he was incredibly friendly and was not reluctant to work in tight conditions. Everything was fixed in about an hour, with no problems afterward. In comparison with other companies, their hourly rate was one of the most affordable in the area.
While at roto-rooter my plumbing knowledge increased ten - fold. Your job assignments were dispatch over the phone.Plumbing jobs varied from to include but not limit to gas line replacement, repair water leaks, faucet repair / replacement to sewer cleaning and water heater repair / replacement. The cut - throat work climate made working there unenjoyable.
